Hello.
My name is Cathy Powers. I’m a wife, a mom, a gold star mother, and a published author. I’m also a woman of faith. I live off the beaten path in a cozy log cabin with my USAF Veteran husband, “Jim.” We are surrounded by a thick forest of trees and wildlife—a sanctuary of sorts—teeming with generations of Carolina critters who seem to be content sharing our neck of the woods. It’s a great life on the outside, yet here I am still learning to navigate the journey of this sometimes difficult and somewhat complicated life with both hope and heartache. As the seasons come and go the hardest part for me is continuing to feel misunderstood and alone. It’s a struggle, but I fight to be understood and create connections with others. Running and training for races has helped me to do this. It’s also helped me to experience up-close the benefits of being disciplined and resilient. This combined with my faith in Jesus Christ is how I’ve managed to keep moving forward. I’ve been so grateful to have an audience that cared about my journey of grief, and then my running journey that followed, but the greatest hope and inspiration I can offer anyone is my faith. I am thankful for my personal relationship with Jesus. Not only does He care about each of us and our own walk in life, He knows our true condition--what’s in our hearts and thoughts--and chooses to love His children unconditionally anyway. This is the kind of love that gives hope to the brokenhearted. At the end of the day when night falls I know He is always with me and It’s incredible to be loved by the Creator of the Universe. It’s a great reminder that regardless of how I sometimes feel, I am never really alone.
If you're interested in what it takes to become a Christian here are the steps I took... To accept Jesus today, simply admit that you are a sinner and believe that Jesus died on the cross to pay for all your sins. Personally pray to Jesus and repent from all your wrongdoings and invite Him into your life. We don’t need fancy words or rituals, just a repentant heart that wants a personal relationship with Jesus. It’s also so important that we recognize that we need to be saved—we need salvation from Jesus who paid the ultimate price for each of our sins—and we need to trust in Jesus as our Savior from this moment on. It’s the single most important and best decision I have ever made.
Love, Cathy
